We're baaaaaaaaaaaaack.... (2/22/11) Dan's Game is Gonna Suck
February 22, 2011 07:20 PM PST
On this week's show, Dan plays around in Toy Story 3, Eric gives us his take on Marvel vs. Capcom 3, we discuss the upcoming Video Game exhibit at the Smithsonian, Telltale's announcement of Fables and Walking Dead games, and that Dead Island trailer everyone lost their collective bowels over. We're not mad, Activision. We're just disappointed. On this week's show, we talk about the death of Guitar Hero, Jane McGonigal's new book "Reality is Broken," Jonathan Blow's "The Witness," and get an update on The Bet. Break Music: Picolescence (Tails and the Music Maker) -- zircon

On this week's show, Dan starts the first Broken Embargo bet. After complaints about game development from Eric and Caleb, Dan makes the claim he can make a full, working game in less than a month. To the winner -- cupcakes. To the loser -- editing duties. Plus, we talk about games. Pro Zombie Soccer and DCUO lead Whatcha Been Playing, and news about Bulletstorm, the NGP, and Minecraft take control of the second half. Listen now and enjoy the fun! Break Music:

It's an interesting show this week, as regular guest Alex Jones joins the boys to talk about video games. Dead Space on iOS kicks off What We've Been Playing, but Dan's a bit too scared to play it. Eric brings Magicka to the discussion, and Dan talks about a new Minecraft mod that adds a specter to the world. In News, we talk about Sony's NGP. We guess price, launch details, and compare the battle to the DS vs. PSP days of old. Also, the Pope wants you to be yourself online, and Reggie's quotes on the lack of Zelda or Kid Icarus at the 3DS launch. Break music:

See you next week! (1/25/11) Under the wire
January 25, 2011 09:01 PM PST
Getting the episode up late tonight! Not much new in what we've been playing. But we've got lots of news this week! From the 3DS conference to SE's First Production Party awesomeness, and rounded out with Valve's newfound (and completely uncharacteristic) love affair with the PS3, there's something for everyone. This week's break music is a short sampling of Silent Hill: Downpour's soundtrack, being led by Daniel Licht in Akira Yamaoka's absence.
EDIT: Totally forgot to post this. Duke Nukem Forever has a RELEASE DATE (May 5th), and this is what we all expect to see when we start the game up:

The gang's all here this week. We start by catching up since it's been SO long since we've all been together. Apparently, Dan played too many boardgames the night before the show last week. He talks about them, while Caleb fills us in on his new addiction to DCUO. Last week's break music was a remix of the Song of Awakening from Link's Awakening. No cookies were given. This week, it's Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead" in honor of today's release of LBP2! (1/1/11) - The Beast from the Near East

In this week's episode, Dan goes all Jekyll and Hyde on us again and is replaced by yet ANOTHER British counterpart. This week, it is Benway of Controller Throw fame. We talk about some old school games with a new school makeover, Splatterhouse, and more! Anyone who can name where the break music comes from gets a cookie. No link this week! Be sure to check out the Controller Throw website and podcast at www.controllerthrow.com (1/5/11) 2nd Annual Golden Embargoes!
January 05, 2011 06:50 PM PST
Join us this week for our second annual Golden Embargo award show! And seeing as we haven't recorded a proper episode for a few weeks, this one's a doozy. We start out talking about all the great deals Steam had going on around the holidays and the games we've been playing through out (hint: It's a LOT) Then it's on to the main event! Tune in to hear who came out on top within our exclusive group of professional voters! Editor's Note: I apologize for the quality of Eric's side of the podcast. There was a slight mix up on the input device he used to record, so he can be a touch hard to hear in places. Nerd Alert - Banelings!

December 28, 2010 06:53 PM PST
So, last week Dan talked up the Golden Embargoes for this week. However, due to familial obligations, at least one third of the hosts wouldn't be present for recording. So instead, we leave you with this episode from our archives, two weeks ago. There was a snafu with editing that week, and it was never released. A little Christmas magic and Viola! Enjoy this little peek into the past! Break music from Final Fantasy V: The Fabled Warriors, a remix project from OCRemix.com. This selection is called "Vessel of the Void ~ Theme of Exdeath" from "Wind", the first of five albums planned. There some really good tracks here, so give 'em a listen:

In this Caleb-less episode of Broken Embargo, we're joined again by the great and mysterious Alex D Jones. There's talk about video games, specifically Bejeweled 3, Dan's blasphemous hate of Majora's Mask, and Limbo's obvious Game of the Year status. Then it's on to the news of the week. Make sure to tune in next week to our Golden Embargoes episode! (12/14/10) Bringing Back the Love
December 14, 2010 06:34 PM PST
This week, Caleb's taken over editing duties. So guess what? We get an episode ON TIME!! Or something like that. Join us this week as we talk about what we've been playing (well, what we CAN talk about) as well as all the latest and greatest news from our favorite bro-fest, the VGA's. Some surprises, some dates, some freaking awesome trailers. And we talk about (read: laugh at) the winners of the "Awards" Next Page |
